The Mini Facelift Surgical Technique

About the mini facelift procedure
Everyone wants to look their absolute youngest, and there are many ways that this can be achieved. Modern advances in plastic surgery and non-surgical facial aesthetics have led to the advent of multiple anti-aging treatments that target loose skin and wrinkles. Maybe the best known treatment option is the facelift, but there’s a new surgical procedure that’s been gaining in popularity lately: the mini facelift. Right now, we’d like to take a moment to consider some of the basics about the mini facelift and how it can help you look years younger and much more refreshed.
A mini facelift is a facial plastic surgery procedure that helps reduce wrinkling and sagging in the middle portion of the face. This is generally a good option for people who have wrinkles around their eyes or experience sagging in the cheek area.
How the mini facelift differs from the traditional facelift
A mini facelift differs from a traditional facelift in that the incisions are smaller. During a traditional facelift, an incision is made that spans around the back of the ear to the lower portion of the the patient’s hairline. In a mini facelift, a few small incisions are strategically located in the same areas, meaning that surgical scars are better hidden.
In addition, a mini facelift can often be performed under local anesthetic and sedation, whereas a traditional facelift is performed with the patient under general anesthetic. This means that mini facelift patients are less groggy after surgery than patients who undergo a traditional facelift.
Am I an ideal candidate?
The best candidates for mini facelift surgery are people who are in good overall health who would like to improve their overall appearance. They should have realistic expectations about the surgery and what it can achieve.
During the mini facelift, a small endoscopic camera is carefully inserted into the tiny incisions, allowing the surgeon to identify the underlying structures of the face. Through these small incisions, those underlying tissues are adjusted, excess skin is trimmed away, and the remaining skin in the middle area of the face is carefully pulled tighter. Facial liposuction may be used if a patient has excess pockets of fat that contribute to poor facial appearance.
Other options for facial rejuvenation
While the mini facelift and the traditional facelift are both ideal options for looking your very best, they are not the only treatments out there for enhancing the appearance of the face. Dermal fillers, skin resurfacing, and specially targeted lift surgeries (e.g., brow lift, neck lift, eye lift) can all work wonders for you.
We can go over all of your surgical and non-surgical options for an anti-aging makeover in greater detail during your visit.
